Are you ready? Here we go!
Now the fun stuff! Important IDGSR adoption application information!
The answers provided permit us to match your needs more effectively with a dog in our care. We try our best to make good matches, not only for your family but also for the well-being of the dog. We want our dogs to live happy, full lives and the best way to carry this out is to find the right families for each dog. We have a saying around here; "Once an IDGSR dog, always and IDGSR dog.” That means that they, and you, will always be a part of our family. As such, we cannot stress this enough! Please fill out the application accurately and completely. We need to know as much about you and your family as possible to help ensure that you and your prospective new furry family member are well suited. Information that you supply helps us determine the best possible match for both our dog and the adoptive family.
If the application is not filled out in FULL or 100% forthcoming, the application will be discarded without further notice.
If a question does not apply, please answer with Not Applicable or N/A.
Applicants must be at least 22 years of age.
IDGSR does not adopt adult male German Shepherds to homes with children, living or visiting, under 12 years of age.
Please note that our wonderful volunteers and foster moms and dads work full-time jobs, have families, pets, and lives of their own, so please be patient with us. We promise to get back with you as soon as possible.
We require that all animals in the prospective adoptive family are spayed or neutered and up to date on vaccines and heartworm prevention. We feel that is part of responsible pet ownership.
We prefer homes with fenced yards. While this is not necessarily a strict requirement, it is a sincere consideration when we are processing applications. If you meet all our other criteria and do not have a fenced yard, we will process your application to see if we may still have a match for your family. You must have a plan in place for the exercise and potty needs of the adopted dog.
If you are planning to be gone on vacation soon, or do not know where you will be living in two years, please get settled and then apply. It is said that it takes 3 weeks for a dog to decompress and start to adjust. Having the time and a consistent routine will help the dog make the transition.
Keep in mind: Rescue dogs need and deserve your patience. Whether it be house-training, having a good relationship with other pets, or just settling in, be prepared. They need time to adjust
The easiest and fastest way to apply is with the online application. However, if you would prefer to apply via e-mail, you may download the application in PDF format. Please complete the application, save it to your computer, then e-mail the completed file to imindangergsrescue@gmail.com.
By filling out this application and clicking 'Submit', you agree to a background check. This may or may not be done depending on the current knowledge IDGSR has of the applicant.
EVERYONE MUST SUBMIT AN APPLICATION BEFORE AN APPOINTMENT IS MADE TO MEET THE DOGS. DOGS ARE INTRODUCED TO PROSPECTIVE ADOPTERS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.
